Rock Shox Reverb Seatpost - Ride Review
Posted: Feb 05 2011 in We Ride
When Rock Shox released the first hydraulic activated seatpost near the end of last year, I couldn't resist. After riding it for the last two months, I had to wonder what I ever did before I owned one!
The first order of business was to bleed the system to get the slap/tickle option up to speed (this dial controls the speed at which the seat raises: would you like a slap or tickle?!). After an easy 5 minute set it up and another 10 minutes at Suspension Werx to bleed the system with hi end oil to increase the raising speed, I was good to go.
Able to raise/lower your seatpost with a range of 5 inches travel and the ability to set it anywhere in between, you soon learn that its an indispensible part of your set up when riding the Shore. Riding trails like Ladies Only for example, while double black diamond, has a cross country section in the lower third, and even a couple burst climbs that I like my seat fully extended. With the Reverb post, I never have to get off my bike to change the saddle height or worse yet, suffer on the climbs with my seat slammed at DH height. Riding Bridal Trail, I'm raising the seat on the fly for the steep climbs, and dropping it a couple inches on the steeper tech sections. Fully extended climbing Old Buck to BP to Severed, I dive straight in without having to stop, and I'm instantly ready to clean the short techy climb after the woodwork.
If you like to pedal our trails and savour your saddle time for every pedal stroke, this is an essential tool in your arsenal that has buttery smooth action and doesn't suffer from the mud clogging issues cable actuated seatposts do. It's worked perfectly from the first slap! Tried & tested, the Rock Shox Reverb seatpost delivers!
