Local legend retiring from DB and bicycle retail.
Posted: Aug 08 2011 in
Jeff Carr, one of the original North Shore mountain bikers, a long time member of the cycling industry and Different Bikes founding store manager, has decided to retire from bike retail. He has taken on a unique new project outside of the bicycle industry that lets him pursue his love of riding in a different way.
As a result, Jeff is no longer working full time as Different Bikes North Vancouver store manager, effective August 1, 2011. He will however continue on a part-time basis through August and September. After that, Jeff will remain a member of the team at Different Bikes – contributing key customer support, special projects, sales and product advice as needed. He remains based in North Vancouver and his DB email remains active so you can contact him as usual with any requests.
The DB North Van location is one of our most successful and we plan to continue to invest in its growth and development in the coming months. We are now actively recruiting for a new store manager and additional key staff to support the team that is there now in that growth.
It is certainly with mixed feelings that we provide this news – Jeff was our original manager partner in the first Different Bikes store and has been a key part of our growth and success since before day 1. His 20+ years experience in bike retail and his sales skills are legendary inside and outside the company. Some say that no one in Canada has put more people on new bikes than Jeff! We will certainly miss his unique ability to get customers what they want, when they want it. However, he has been presented a rare opportunity to try something new and we truly wish him the best in that venture. We’re glad Jeff will still be part of our team in the background and very much appreciate his contributions to DB’s success to date.
