Blooming Entry: Muni-Ferns

Posted: Jul 10 2010 in Travel

I can't remember when it was that I stopped thinking of/referring to myself as a "Mountain Biker" and substituted the term "Cyclist," but since whenever it was I have certainly met a lot of people that think similarly.

Some of them started commuting to work, or riding a road bike to augment their offroad fitness, or racing a BMX (24" Cruisers are AMAZING on a track btw), or ripping a cyclocross bike around a muddy course in the fall (I have it on good authority that if you go see one race/event/gongshow this year you have to make it Star Crossed),  or touring, or trials, or (as they say "to each their own") covering themselves and their bicycles in sticky energy drink and racing triathlon (if that sounds judgemental you have obviously never had to work on a Triathlon bike).

Some of them, with far superior balance to myself, started riding unicycles. Some of those unicyclists started actually riding places on their unicycles (not just showing off to friends or trying to use their skills to pick up chicks/dudes) and some of those started riding the damn things offroad.

Without further ado: this weeks entry, by Yves Marcoz, showcases beautiful North Vancouver and a twisted branch of the cycling family tree that is available to only the best balanced among us (myself -definitely- excluded).
