DB Rider races the Trans Andes Challenge
Posted: Feb 05 2012 in Events, Travel, We Ride
Congratulations to Jim Salusbury on his Trans Andes Challenge race in Chile January 23rd - 28th, 2012. This six day "extreme" mountain bike stage race takes riders through the rugged Andes Mountains in the Chilean Patagonia with stages ranging from 60 km to 100 km per day.
"It was a great race, challenging long days with lots of hike a bike and big climbs," says Salusbury. "It was my first stage race and first race back into riding for a few years and it was great. I was battling some knee injuries (from skiing before x-mas) the month before leaving which flared up on Day 5 and 6 and slid me back in the results, but I ended up 16th in Open Men in a fleet of 41 and around 20th overall out of nearly 200 riders. Thanks very much to the DB West Van team for helping get my bike and spare parts ready to go! The bike ran beautifully with exception to a free hub issue from all those washboard gravel roads."
